Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo: Again, All About KimErald

I saw the full trailer of ABS-CBN's new soap, Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo and I must say that there's really something to look forward to. More than the soap itself, I was blown away with the responses of Kim Chiu's and Gerald Anderson's fans. Before, when there were rumors about Gerald being paired with Sarah Geronimo, Kimerald fans were strongly opposing and it was too powerful that even the ABS-CBN's management had to forgo the idea. There were even numerous instances were projects were cancelled because of the clamors from Kimerald's fans. I thought, if Kimerald's fans are this passionate and zealous about their so-called idols then there could be millions and millions that's why ABS-CBN's decision is being altered. If this love team is that powerful then Kim and Gerald would be a very important icon of Philippine showbiz of this generation (and all the other love teams should accept that fact).

Blackberry or iPhone?...and suddenly it's Blackberry!

For a couple of weeks now, I'm torn between buying an iPhone or Blackberry. I'm a motion designer and I use macbook pro for my work and that would license me to opt for iPhone. However, it's weight and touchscreen functionality gave me the ambiguity to choose it that's why it made me think to also consider Blackberry. And why not? Blackberry is everywhere in Hollywood. Every celeb has it and it's the most used smart phone in the movies hehehe.

My indecisiveness suddenly disappeared. I usually watch The Buzz and for so many episodes now, Kris Aquino used "Blackberry" and she even used it as verb. And since many of the Blackberry models have keypad, it made me decide to go for Blackberry. I find Blackberry Bold 9700 just right for me.

My favorite songs: Empire State of MInd & Can't fight this feeling

These days I fell in love with Jay-Z's and Alicia Keys' Empire State of Mind. But among the two, it was Alicia Keys whom I noticed. She has a powerful presence in the music video. Her voice is intense. Though the music video isn't that great.

Another song that swoons me is from Glee, Can't Fight This Feeling (anymore). One thing I appreciate about Glee is that they revived old songs.

And I Love You So: Ok pala sya

I don't usually watch romantic (or romantic-comedy) movies. More often not in cinemas but I'd just download it elsewhere. The last time that I've seen a pinoy film is Sarah Geronimo's and John Lloyd's You Changed My Life which is also entertaining. I knew that And I love You So was a mega hit in box office and so I was curious plus the fact that last night, I have nothing to watch with my favorite TV series since many of them are in their season break.

The first 30 minutes was almost boring. It was just so light. Mga pa-cute lang, kumbaga. I almost gave up and watch Supernatural instead. But gradually the story picked up its intensity. I was hooked. My favorite scene with Bea was with Coney Reyes when she was confronted. It was just a short scene but very powerful. Bea's performance on this scene was deep and compelling. She made me feel her pain just through her eyes. No shouting and no big drama.

Sam Milby is also a revelation. The role he portray is far from himself and he made me believe that he is as carefree as his character in the movie. His acting is so natural, so fluid. I think Sam and John Llyod would have a head-to-head match when it comes to acting in the generation of actors today.

Derek Ramsay shows an ok performance. His just perfect for the role of Bea's husband. Though he wouldn't be as convincing if he tackled the role of Sam. For some reason, Derek has a stiff personality that even in acting it exudes. A gay role would definitely be a challenge for Derek in his next role and he wouldn't even be intrigued at all. And maybe, I wouldn't even think as he is in that movie.

Pinoy Big Brother: Taas ng Rating

In today's edition of PBB, I sometimes miss some episodes but I'm a fan of MelAson love team. I'm surprised when I've read that it has a high TV ratings that almost dislodges Darna from its position. Congrats and keep it up!

Apple's Mac now reigns

In a span of one month, almost 3 of my friends bought Macbook Pro. Two of them bought the 15" and another bought the 13in MBP. But, of course, Windows-based computers still reigns the market share and a great number of households owns a PC. It also depends upon the firm or organization. Most of design firms use Mac computers. Since my field of specialization is in multimedia and most of my friends are in design world, then most of them also opt to use Macs. It's not about the elitism that one would buy a mac but because of its performance and reliability.

I think it's not really the hardware alone that constitutes to Macs stability, but more so, it is the operating system, Mac OS 10.6. I also own a desktop PC running on Windows 7. It's more stable and faster than its predecessor - Windows XP and Widnows Vista. However, comparing it with Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) makes Windows 7 still come off second best - from start up to shut down!

Tiger's Woody

In the past few days we were swamped with news of Tiger Woods' infidelity. He has girls in every city, how cool is that! Well, not that cool when you're married and have dozens of product endorsements. Tag Heuer has pulled out all their in-store advertisements featuring Tiger Woods. I remember when he said this in an interview:

"If you are given a chance to be a role model, I think you should always take it because you can influence a person's life in a positive light, and that's what I want to do. That's what it's all about."

What happened now, Woody?

Hey, Mr. Manny Fuck-quiao! You should take this as a lesson and learn from Woody's mistakes. At least he confessed. You're movie this coming Metro Manila Film Fest might not make money at all because of you're dirty tricks with your female co-stars. Among all the movies this coming MMFF, your movie sucks! And whoever designed your costume should be fired as well! Why did Topel Lee even gave it a go signal with that kind of costume?!

Brad Pitt - the original Vamp now returns!

The original and the sexiest of all vampires now returns to the big screen. The movie is about the vampire Dracula when he was still the prince known as Vlad the Impaler. I can't wait to see this film. He's quite good in Interview with the Vampire as Louise. I thought that they would do the whole Vampire Chronicles of Anne Rice with Tom Cruise but they didn't (because the latter didn't want to do sequels before). But I still hope that they would give it a try and I'm quite sure that Tom would agree now. It could be a career saver for Tom since his recent movies bombed at the box office.

I'm Gleek!

One of my favorite shows today is Glee. Before I have to admit that I didn't like musicals but the moment I saw Glee, I thought it was ok. Because of this show, I started appreciating songs of the past like Can't fight this feeling anymore, Lean on me, Imagine, True Colors, and a lot more. I never heard of these songs before since we're pretty much bombarded with RNB and HipHop which are my favorite, by the way. One of the strengths of the show is how they treat each character. Each of them has their own flaws. And the thing is, it's my first time to have no favorite character at all. But I enjoy it so much. Each performance is simply spectacular.

Here's a clip from one of its episodes. I love Rihanna's Take a Bow and I thought Glee's version is as breathtaking as the original or perhaps even better.

She's fat and doesn't care much

One of the joys when you commute is to see people of all walks of life. Iba-ibang porma, dating, at kung anu-anong gimik. There was this one instance when I was in a jeepney, I saw a girl. She was about 5-ft high, dark skin and fat and she's only in her early twenties ! Her long hair almost covered her plump face. She was listening to her music player while reading a pocketbook. She was oblivious of her surrounding and almost every person inside the jeepney was staring at her. She's more than 180 pounds.

But every time I would see individuals who care less of their looks I can't help to think, "are they happy?". And sometimes my mind would go as far as, "are they still virgins?". I don't know if it's wrong or if I'm being judgmental. In today's generation, when you're young, you have to live to the fullest. People are judgmental so you have to look good outside. The media is bombarding us with a distorted notion of what beauty should be - skinny models in their over-the-edge outfits, expensive gadgets and the like. Yes, it is right to think that beauty and happiness is found within one's self which is 100% correct, no argument on that. But how could you be happy when every time you would look in front of a mirror it is the awful you is what you see. And to top it all...you're still young!

When you're young, enjoy it because it wouldn't last forever. When you're fat, enroll in a gym and buy clothes that would make you feel good. Celebrate being youthful. Make your passion fashion. Make friends and enjoy life...party! But be responsible in a way...

Top 10 Leading Ladies in Philippine Showbiz of 2009

Now here are my top 10 leading ladies of today's generation. Of course, the top 1 will always be Sarah Geronimo - multi-talented, box-office queen, and she's just simply successful in whatever she does.

1) Sarah Geronimo
2) Kim Chiu
3) KC Concepcion
4) Angel Locsin
5) Bea Alonzo
6) Marian Rivera
7) Toni Gonzaga
8) Angel Panganiban
9) Carla Abellana
10) Heart Evangelista

Could this be the reason why Claudine Barretto transferred to GMA 7? She's not even visible this whole year and she's not even in the most bankable list of ABS-CBN's female stars.

New Moon -the Banned Trailer

Maybe some of you twi-hard fans have seen this but still I wanna share it. It's so funny that I hope there's really a full-length movie of this version.

She's 30 and wanted to have a baby desperately!

My friend YM'ed me when she saw me signed in. It's been awhile since we met. She's one of my best girl friends ever. She's beautiful, sweet and yet very outspoken. And yes, our friendship is quite platonic. She would often bug me if she had love issues.

She is almost 30 years old this December. She has no boyfriend and the time is almost over for her, as she would often describe it. She's pretty much worried. For lots of women, being 30 isn't that easy. Their biologically clock is ticking and having a baby at this age would be an issue and so much more of having a husband.

I would always tease her na magpabuntis na lang sya sa kahit kanino basta maganda ang genes. She would often reply na kung ganun kadali yun at slut sya, why not! But she isn't and that's the problem. Here is an excerpt from our conversation:

friendim planning to have a baby no

It's funny to think that sometimes even the most intelligent and successful women would deviate from their values just to have the love and affection they thought that would complete them. Yes, it's sad to be alone and it's harder when the time ticks and you feel like you're life is almost over. But hey, you're not alone. There are millions of women who share the same sentiments. Here's a clip which shows the same issue:

Piolo Pascual losing his charm

Don't be shocked if ever you saw Piolo on GMA 7 or you wouldn't see him anymore on soaps and movies in ABS-CBN and Star Cinema in the near future. Why? He is beginning to lose his charm. On his soap with KC Concepcion, Lovers in Paris, it isn't their loveteam that many viewers are anticipating to see, it's with Zanjoe Marudo. Even Sharon Cuneta prefers the loveteam between Zanjoe and her daughter, KC. The box office appeal isn't as huge as John Lloyd Cruz. Perhaps the audience knows. It's a good thing he is moving from being in front to behind the camera by producing movies and concerts.

Sharon show needs to reformat

Haven't you noticed lately the "Sharon" show? I'm kinda sick and tired watching the same format of her show. She would guest stand up comedian or celebrities and then they would perform either sing and dance on a small platform while Sharon is just lying on the couch smiling, laughing and making comments. Almost mediocre! She has to live up to her image. She's Sharon Cuneta! Don't just lie on the couch...do something! It could burn your fats, you know. It doesn't even feel a talk show to me. It doesn't mean that when your show rates and you have a name you would give your fans a mediocre performance. Where are your dancers? Why such a small venue? Where are the extravagant performances? It's only once a week why not make it glitzy with over the top numbers and performances? I miss the days during The Sharon Cuneta Show when every performance is just simply marvelous.

Ninja ASS-asin

I was surprised to see the name "Rain" at the closing credit of the movie Ninja Assasin. I'm not a fan that is why after all those kicks and drama it was at the end of the movie I figured that it was him. Well, he's pretty good in singing and dancing and I didn't expect that he could kick ass. The movie wasn't really that bad but I won't recommend it especially if there are other movies to be seen. I thought it was really good because the trailer of the movie was awesome but I was fooled.

Heather Locklear in the new Melrose Place

I was thrilled when I saw Heather Locklear in the new Melrose Place. She still got it but there is one thing that I noticed...she aged. Of course, everyone does. But there's something about her face that you would want to stare and scrutinize it. Was it the make-up?. Oh, it's the botox...of course! Here's the younger Amanda...

New Show: The Bottomline with Boy Abunda

I can't wait to see this. I'm a fan of Boy Abunda so definitely this Saturday I'll tune in. But my only comment is the design of the title animation. It's simple pero parang may kulang. The layout of the graphic elements are somehow off. Well, not that crummy but I know it could've been better. Maybe the producers of the show together with the artists didn't put so much time and effort. It's Boy Abunda after all.

Black and white

Hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit ang araw na ito
ay puno ng pag-iisip at pag-aalala,
Ito ba ay dulot ng gabing iyong nalaman

Claudine Barretto is now a Kapuso!

I was shocked when I've read that Claudine Barretto has finally transferred to GMA, the kapuso network. She has been with ABS-CBN since she started acting, that was like 17 years ago. I still remembered when there was this first issue regarding her transfer way back. She said she couldn't imagine herself transferring to any other station. And now what? She just did. And it was so sudden!

The news wasn't flattering...for Claudine. And it wasn't a flattering decision for both. When Ai-Ai delas Alas was about to make a move to transfer to GMA, the top execs of ABS did all what they can to stop her and offered her TV series so she would remain as one of their top talents. But there are no words yet as to why they came up with that decision with Claudine. ABS-CBN just let her go. It wasn't amicable I supposed since everything was abrupt. I was still in the state of waiting her new soap with her sister Gretchen. Of course, I doubt if Gretchen would still say yes for a project in GMA with Claudine. Kris Aquino and Ruffa Gutierrez are all in ABS...so she has to be in the same network where the cream of the crop are. Hindi sya papatalbog.

There are plenty of reasons why Claudine transferred. To top it all, she has no soap or any projects from ABS. She has family to support. Her last soap was Iisa Pa Lamang last year and her last movie was Sukob last 2006. Another reason is that there are new talents in ABS who deserve more attention since they give ABS more cash flows. Just try to imagine Angel Locsin has already new soap in the works and not to mention a new movie with Aga Muhlach. She was nominated for Best Actress in International Emmy Awards. The last movie of Bea Alonzo was a monster hit in the box office. Younger talents like Maja Salvador and Erich Gonzales with their respective soaps also showed a strong presence in the TV rating.

Conclusion: Her transfer wasn't amicable and ABS-CBN let her go because she is now a waning star!

New Moon - New love lost

My friend's wife went out to see New Moon with her friend. He decided to hang out in our office while he waited for his wife to finish the movie. I asked him why not join them instead. He said it wasn't his kind of movie, "my wife and her friend were excited and giggling to see it". After a couple of hours, his wife texted, "the movie is awesome!". And so I was curious.

The next day, I asked one of my friends to accompany me to see the movie. I was shocked, there was a long line of moviegoers. Of course, it was expected. The movie has a great number of fans and followers. Many of them were teens and college students.

When I fell in line, there was a girl behind me accompanied by a man. She was a mestiza, petite and she almost resembled the face of Bea Alonzo. She was in her early twenties. She was smokin'! I couldn't explain it but somehow I felt something. Sort of a rush in my blood stream whenever I would take a glimpse of her. Then I caught her staring at me then our eyes locked and I couldn't take my eyes off her for a second or two. Her boyfriend was just beside her and this was happening, I thought. And so I focused myself not to be distracted by her presence. For a moment, I just focused my attention at my cell phone since my friend hadn't arrived yet. I listened to their conversation intently. Later I realized that they were not lovers. The man was still in the courting stage. I envied him because he wasn't good looking. Hindi din sya maporma pero malakas ang loob to court and pursue such a beautiful piece of creation. Kaya pala they didn't hug though the man was trying to hold her hand.

Later, I heard, "E di mag-CR ka na. Dito na lang ako. Wait kita". It was the girl. She said it twice but somehow the boy didn't respond. He just stayed there. Sayang!

Someone waved at me. It was my friend. Then I typed something in my cell phone then I showed my mobile phone's screen to my friend. I told him the story. So he took a quick glance at the girl behind us and he nodded and he smiled. He agreed.

Later, I felt her arms brushing on mine. She was standing not behind me but somewhat beside me, on my right. I felt a sudden gush of blood in my head...there! Down there. I couldn't resist it and it happened. Fuck! I was wearing my tight jeans. In just a few seconds, I realized that the one of the staff of the cinema in front of us was staring at my crotch. I hid behind my friend who was laughing. The more I became conscious of what happened, the more other people stared at me and my you-know-what. I felt embarrassed and I promised not to wear those jeans again.

"Sige, mag-CR ka na. Mahaba pa naman ang pila". It was the girl again. But the boy just stayed there. I was thinking if he went to the restroom, I would talk to her and ask her number, of course with the help of my friend. I'm kinda shy type you know...but the bloody bastard just didn't move a muscle. Maybe, somehow, he knew.

Later, we were the next on line. We bought the ticket and assigned our seats. I looked for her and she was in the other ticket booth. We were already finished but they were still in the ticket booth. There would be other time and other beautiful creations, I thought. But there would only be one like you...

...Another love lust...uh...lost pala!

The movie was kinda disappointing. I thought it would be just like the first one but it wasn't. I don't know...I just didn't like it. I just waited for the movie to be over. Parang mababaw lang sya. It wasn't awesome. But I understand why others love it. They were fans.
